I've been on a little vacation from photo taking. It's been nice. I had the chance to refresh my apartment walls, nothing too drastic - just some small redecorating here and there. Also caught up with close pals, saw Greenberg, and even got some sun at the beach. Did you notice the new blog look too?

But God help me!!! I can't be away from my camera for too long. This weekend, with more incredible weather in store, I have a fun/creative shoot with some fantastic ladies. It involves feathers! Then next week I am shooting Dave and Stacey, a lovely couple planning on getting hitched in May. We will be exploring an abandoned garden. And the following day I'll be leaving for Portland for some non-stop photo taking, in the fog, with hip kids.

So come back and visit me. There is a lot going on behind scenes. Ready to be posted!

Pen and ink on white paper is some of my favorite art. It always reminds me of Shel Silverstein. I love these illustrations by Blue Bicicletta.

Good morning and happy Friday. The day can't get off to a better start than beginning it with a hot cup of Youthberry White tea and this lovely song by Yeasayer, off their new album Odd Blood, which I am absolutely loving. Enjoy.

I ordered a few Robert Hunter prints for my apartment. It's nice outfitting the place in some transcontinental talent. If you are an illustrator or just love good design check out his sketch book. I love seeing work in progress.

ETSY STORE SCORE

Confession: I am a major etsy consumer. I love finding great little shops, like Brooklyn NY Rehab, who take vintage items and reclaim them into something new and amazing. How great is this "take a seat" necklace?!

3 things I love: drawing, collage, and landscapes. Tom Edwards combined all 3 so I think I love him too. Visit his site and see his cool multimedia work - including a Shrine to Fruit and If Drawings were Photographs.

There have been several viral videos dubbed "iamamiwhoami" circulating for a few months now. The videos leaked on youtube and just about everyone was speculating on who could be responsible for these haunting scenes - including Trent Reznor and Christina Aguilera. Turns out the artist is remaining a well-kept secret and still refuses to step forward. In fact, this iamamiwhoami campaign recently sent mystery packages to MTV studios and released a new installment on youtube. The whole thing is remarkably intriguing and absolutely eery. See for yourself!

I recently developed some film I found hidden at the bottom of my purse. This mystery roll turned out to be scenes from Atlanta taken on a recent trip with Wes. I was pleased to see myself able to see again.

I don't care if it's dorky; I like to photograph my place, my things, myself- my life.

I watched an Annie Leibovitz documentary the other night and found myself completely falling in love with her. Although she isn't my favorite photographer in the world I am enthralled with her story and the art she's been making for decades. What stood out to me most wasn't anything to do with Vanity Fair or celebrities, but her life long relationship with the camera. She has been keeping a record of her life on film since childhood. Of course when she admitted Robert Frank's work taught her how to see, that was it for me. She didn't have to go on and capture rock n' roll with Rolling Stone or claim the throne of Vanity Fair's finest. She had me at Frank.

In the film you see her collection of photos, pinned to the walls of her gorgeous Conneticuit home. She is making her book, Annie Leibovitz At Work. Everything is exposed and hanging like clothes drying on the line - photos of John Lennon, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan next to her children swimming, Susan Sontag, and family roadtrips cross country. Just like Frank, she lived with her work- pinned to the walls like windows into the past, depicting the story of something so much greater than fame - but life, on film.

Had we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, lady, were no crime.
We would sit down and think which way
To walk, and pass our long love's day;
Thou by the Indian Ganges' side
Shouldst rubies find; I by the tide
Of Humber would complain. I would
Love you ten years before the Flood;
And you should, if you please, refuse
Till the conversion of the Jews.
My vegetable love should grow
Vaster than empires, and more slow.
An hundred years should go to praise
Thine eyes, and on thy forehead gaze;
Two hundred to adore each breast,
But thirty thousand to the rest;
An age at least to every part,
And the last age should show your heart.
For, lady, you deserve this state,
Nor would I love at lower rate.

I love Andrew Marvell.

FILM & CRAFT

Right now, every single aspect of my life is running full steam ahead at an intensity that feels like a mini oven turned up to the highest power. Work, love, family, friends, art... it's all exploding together, twice as hard than I expected, into a messy milieu of life happenings. It's overwhelming but it's not surprising. I realize, it's just the way it goes.

Unfortunately, as a result my mind feels dried up like a little raisin in the sun. I haven't pressed a pen to paper or taken a photo in weeks. It's disturbing how quickly time can consume you, but never-the-less I'm fighting my way back to the place of consistent creativity. To help get me there I've been keeping an idea book, where I collage cut-outs of things that inspire me.

So thank you for still following along, despite the recent lack luster. I promise there is more to come.

I am totally obsessing over Alli Coate's illustrations turned to 3D art. I really love her pillows.
